Jersey will be Awarded to the Top Male and Female in the 100-mile, 100K and 25-mile ride and the Top Female in the Women’s-only 50-mile FemmeFondo
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Organizers of the Giro Della Costa Centrale, a California Central Coast GranFondo that travels along Tour of California roads in the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County wine countries, announces the design of its “La Maglia Rosa” Pink Jersey. With an “Everything Italian” riding theme, the Pink Jersey is patterned after the winner’s jersey of the Giro D’Italia. The pink jersey is exclusive to the winners of the four tour rides at the Giro Della Costa Centrale and will be awarded to the top female and male in each (with the exception of the FemmeFondo that is a women-only ride).
All Giro Della Costa Centrale rides will start at Trilogy Resort at Monarch Dunes, a 5-star community/resort with spa, golf course and Shea Homes. All rides will leave the resort and traverse the Central Coast, riding along the Pacific Coast Highway and deep into the Santa Ynez Valley. Registration for the event is open.
First-class amenities for each registered rider includes an Inaugural event t-shirt, well-stocked AID Stations with a signature Italian food, FLUID Sports drink, CLIF Shots, and salty and sweet snacks along, chip timing to track progress, mechanical and sag support from Flanders Bicycle and a hot pasta lunch at rides end.
On Saturday, November 8, the Giro Della Costa Centrale will host a VIP Party and Panel Discussion with its PRO Riders Christian Vande Velde, Peter Stetina, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg and Patty Peoples. Special Guests PRO Riders at the event include Hall of Famer Wayne Stetina, Adam Laurent, Para-cyclist Shawn Morelli, and Tri-Athlete Casey Bateman. Emcees for the PRO Panel will be professional cycling announcer Pedro Brown and USA Cycling Board Chair Bob Stapleton. The party takes place at the Martin Resorts Shore Cliff Hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Pismo Beach.
As in years past, the Giro Della Costa Centrale will benefit Alpha Pregnancy and Parenting Support and the Hearst Cancer Resource Center at French Hospital.
In addition to the new routes, the Giro Della Costa Centrale will also feature Festivale Italiano, a finish line party for riders and their guests. The Festivale will immerse riders in “La Dolce Vita” with Italian foods, wines, beer and classic Italian music. Riders can relax at the world-class resort, listen to music and enjoy a hot meal. There will be merchandise and vendors with the latest bikes and gear.
